Are you really that surprised?). Since then, I've acquired a total of four of thee brushes. "Flawless Airbrush" is absolutely an accurate name for this brush. It disperses foundation and concealer quickly and achieves a gorgeous and diffused look that I've never witnessed with another brush. If the rainbow chrome look isn't your thing, Sephora also sells it in a classic black finish. For under $5 it works just as well as the beauty blender, and unlike the beauty blender, it has flat edges on two sides to blend foundation and concealer in those hard-to-reach places right under the eyes. To top it all off, the sponge is made of 70% plant-based materials. It blends beautifully and has my favorite flat-edge, though there is a learning curve with this sponge. When dampened, water tends to settle into the center of the sponge quickly, such that it appears to have dried out. However, a quick squeeze will have it reactivated and ready for use. My favorite use for this sponge is for baking. If you're not familiar, baking is a technique in which excess setting powder is applied after foundation and concealer, often with a damp beauty sponge, and allowed to sit for a few minutes before brushing off the powder that hasn't set onto the skin. This technique is ideal for those with oily skin, as it extends makeup-wear by soaking up more oil throughout the day. I've always found baking to be difficult - I can rarely get the powder to apply evenly to my skin with a sponge, and if the sponge is too damp I end up with patches of powder on my skin. This sponge, however, always picks up the right amount of powder, and its tendency to move water to its center leaves it with the perfect dampness for baking. I can't remember why I decided to pick up this particular tropical-themed brush, but by Jove (can I pull off that phrase? Let me know in the comments below lol) am I sure glad I did. This brush diffuses blush and bronzer perfectly every time, such that you look like a naturally flushed model, fresh from a morning run in the sun. I now own two of these brushes. It makes some claims about antioxidants that I’m skeptical about (again because those ingredients are going straight down the drain), but I don’t mind because this cleanser is great on value for money. The 5oz bottle costs $20, but I always buy the mini 2oz bottle at $10 because a tiny amount of this product goes such a long way. A literal pea-sized amount of product, when lathered well, will clean my entire face. I’ve been using this bottle for 7-8 months (in rotation with my other cleansers listed below) and it’s still going strong. But it still cleanses well and refrains from stripping the skin. A small amount of this product goes a similarly long way, but only if used correctly. When you add water to the product and begin to lather, it appears to completely disappear for a moment, which can be shocking. But before you reach for more cleanser keep lathering - it will begin to expand into a rich foam when lathered well. A 5oz bottle of the product will put you out about $6, depending on from where you buy. There was a time that I had switched to using chemical exfoliants exclusively because so many physical exfoliants are quite harsh on the skin. But when I received a mini-version of this product as a free sample from Sephora, I was hooked. Rather than scrubbing my skin with it (again, too harsh), I find that gliding it over my face as I would any other cleanser gives me the smooth clean results I desire without stripping or irritating my skin. That is, until Paula's Choice Perfect Cleansing Oil. When added to water, the cleansing oil transforms into a milky consistency that rinses easily off the skin, like any other cleanser. It is truly magical, and I love it with my whole heart. The clear packaging of the bottle also feels ultra-luxurious, and I feel like a fancy lady whenever I use it. To top it all off, I know Paula is giving me the best research-based skincare for the lowest possible price.
